Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day Weekend!

I always look forward to doing my Mother’s Day post because I get to shoot with my mama. We have so many laughs during our shoots and I forever cherish the photos. We have like 120 candids from this shoot. Some of them were pretty hilarious if I do say so myself. We did a similar shoot last year and I wanted to carry on the tradition.

My mama is pretty hilarious. She is forever laughing at something and always positive. I always wish I could be more like that. I am such a planner and worrier but she takes things as they come. I admire that about her. I also have to give so much credit to her because she has been extremely supportive of me, especially over the last year. Taking the bar exam not only weighs on you but also your family. She encouraged me to push through and pursue my dreams. She has always supported me in good and bad. However, long before the bar exam, she showed remarkable strength by taking care of my mamaw.

My mamaw had Alzheimer’s for several years and required full-time care. My mama put her life on hold and provided for my Mamaw. The disease is a debilitating one. It’s not only sad but an all-consuming disease. My mama prepared meals, did laundry, and completed housework for years without complaint. It is still hard for me to process how she did it all but she did. Unfortunately, my mamaw passed away in January 2015. We both miss her so much and wanted to include her in this post. I’m very blessed she was able to see me graduate from undergrad and get married. I know without a doubt she would have loved to been apart of this shoot. She loved clothes (I guess you could say we are cut from the same cloth). I’m grateful I had two strong women in my life who inspired me to work hard, pursue my dreams, and live life to the fullest.

Give your mom an extra hug this Mother’s Day for all she does for you and your family. Also, take a picture! You never know what a picture is worth until someone is gone. Have a blessed Mother’s Day!
